My Dad used to be a fireman, but he took early retirement with a disability. He threw his back doing something with the hose on the truck. So he gets full pay and benefits for life. He’s okay now. Still, he always has to be careful about his back, not to hurt it or injure it again. He has what’s called a “mechanical back.”

Now, My Dad works in the construction industry. He’s a licensed contractor in the Beach Cities where we live. Sometimes he takes me out to his construction sites in his truck. I bang some nails with him and the guys who work on the crew. My Dad totally speaks Spanish. Once, me and My Dad screwed in some drywall. My Dad likes to keep it real.

My Mom works in real estate. She sells a lot of the homes that My Dad builds in the Beach Cities where we live. She was on TV once selling real estate. My Mom is like really tan. She totally works out. She does Pilates.
